America is drifting further and further away from the values of the rest of the western world. They are a backwards religious state in a world where every other developed country is increasingly secular. Their days as the leader of free world are finished, because nobody will follow them any more. Nowadays, they rely on power and intimidation to get their way. But their economy is a mess, and their military is already stretched to the limits. Their influence is in long-term decline, because voters around the world have no respect for America. Supporting the USA is not worth the risk for most democratic governments. The Labour Party only get away with it because the opposition is unelectable.
CNN's exit poll says 54% of voters considered the war in Iraq to be part of the war on terror.

...

The antidote to democracy is the corporation.
You Are a Very Angry Person

You have lost faith in democracy and America.

Your coping skills are being severely tested.

You're considering giving Ohio to Canada and cutting Florida off the continent completely.

You have a sneezing cockatiel running across your keyboard.

Diebold Voting Machine Owner Committed To Give Votes To Bush in 2004

The head of a company vying to sell voting machines in Ohio told Republicans in a recent fund-raising letter that he is "committed to helping Ohio deliver its electoral votes to the president next year."

The Aug. 14 letter from Walden O'Dell, chief executive of Diebold Inc. - who has become active in the re-election effort of President Bush - prompted Democrats this week to question the propriety of allowing O'Dell's company to calculate votes in the 2004 presidential election.

Bush's success demonstrates that there is a dominant conservative majority in the US. It's not about a few fringe evangelicals, it's about a fundamentally right wing populace. If they can be convinced to turn out to the polls - with homophobic initiatives and the threat of liberal bogeymen - there isn't another group in the nation that can able to beat them. This isn't a phase. This is America.
Not like I'm going to be using these brain cells anyway....
