You're all my best friends. You all, and the girl with the cello, and the Esteemed Colleague from Elsewhere, you're all my guys, you know that, right? Cause know that. It's true. You're my team. If things get freaky again, I need you all on my side to dig me out. Don't let me die in an unholy place. And protect yourselves. You're the best. Take care of all of you all, even the ones you don't know; they're worth it, promise you.

I'm always there. Always gonna be there.

(Edit: I don't remember making this post. But it's still true.)

Sounds like something terrible has happened, so let me guess...

I'm sorry you're being rebooted by DC Comics.

Augh! Spikes! Pouches! Grim -n- gritty! Commercialized and stereotyped sexual attitudes! Cliffhanger endings! It ALL MAKES SENSE.

...Or it will until the next issue. I should have a letter column.

Oh, thank God, feet. I'm Liefeld-free.

I still don't know who's writing my life. Could be Ellis or Moore. If it's Ennis, then life's only going to get more disturbing and grotesque from here. Somehow. If it's Gaiman, there's still hope. If it's Morrison, perhaps none of this is really happening....

This does raise an interesting question. If things get overwhelming, difficult, and beyond seeing a solution, would you try to fight your way through, or take an offered choice to reboot your life as Spiderman did? (Though I am not sure he had much of a choice.)

I can foresee a set of circumstances that'd make me want a hard reboot of my life to any given previous save point. It'd depend on just how dire the situation's gotten and where that save point would be (and memory retention).

If I'd have been in Parker's position, where Aunt May begged to be let go and Pete wants to throw his marriage away to save an already tenuous life...you can be highly virtuous and yet completely stupid in applying that virtue. But yeah, editorial fiat already twisted the gears; there was no illusion of choice.
