Uhm, yeah. That was...er, something else.

So no big surprises in store -- the most surprising things were the things that didn't actually happen. No follow-up on the Deathstroke/GA confrontation, which I was expecting at least a hint of. Calculator's crew is still out there, depressingly. And the epilogue came off more than a little disturbing than sentimental, at least, to me.

There were a few nice moments -- Ollie and Wally were pretty good. And...uhm. Yeah. That's about it, really.

There's definitely a pallor over the DCU now -- if it bleeds into other titles, its depth, how its inhabitants react all remain to be seen (no, I read no industry news -- can you tell?), but there's a bit less gleam on the Silver Age now. And while it's modern and hip and current and edgy and all sorts of other buzzwords, I'm not sure it works for me.

Oh, it was bad. I'll probably do a full listing of every STOOPID moment in it post-xmas as I leave tomorrow night for a week-plus in North Carolina and don't plan to take all seven issues with me, but there's a basic, glaring, fundamental problem with the whole story.

The murderer has no motive. The supposed motive given doesn't exist, as demonstrated in all relevant past appearances of the character. Not to mention that even if it did exist, the murderer has to be a complete whack job to even consider their initial plan as a reasonable and viable way of accomplishing their goal when there are several much simpler, better, more effective, and not involving physical assult, ways of doing so.
